Secret Horticultural Musings Revealed...

After 20 years in the Horticulture trade, I'm finally ready to make public something that has puzzled me over the years...
Why in the Victorian era weren't the English common names for the maidenhair fern (Adiantium raddianum) and the maidenhair tree (Ginko biloba) changed to something less erotic? It just doesn't seem proper that so many things were frowned upon but plants named for their pubic hair - like foliage may have adorned the conservatories of the most conservative... inconsistancy thy name be human.

So much idiocy, so little time...
